How To Add Separate Description For Every Page In Blogger

how to add separate descripiton to each post in blogger

After publishing many posts about seo I am back with a new one. This post is about adding a separate description to each page in blogger. You might be thinking of what do I mean by separate description, if it is so then let me explain it.

Why Do I Add A Separate Description To Each Of My Pages?

Let me tell you its benefits first before I explain why is it important to add a separate description for each page. You will realise the importance of a separate description by reading its benefits.
  • The first benefit of adding a separate description to each page is it lets you to get maximum results from search engines because the description you add to a page contains long tail keywords and hence when someone search something similar to your keywords they see your blog in search results.
  • Second benefit of adding a separate description to each page is it helps you to fix duplicate description errors in webmaster tools specially in Bing webmaster tools.
  • As long keywords are used in description therefore it increases the relevancy of your content with your keywords which is good for seo.

All the above benefits makes it important to have a separate description for each page in blogger. So this post is dedicated to blogger seo. Follow below steps to add a separate description to each and every page of your blog.

How To Add Separate Description To Every Page In Blogger?

Before we start adding a separate description to each page we have to touch robots.txt first. We have to add new robots.txt to tell robots to index all our pages except not found. So follow below steps to add new robots.txt to your blog.

Step 1: Go to Blogger Dashboard > Settings > Search preference > Crawlers and indexing and edit Custom robots.txt.

how-to-add-robots-text-in-blogger

Step 2: Copy below robots.txt and replace it with the existing text.

User-agent: Mediapartners-Google
Disallow:

User-agent: *
Disallow: /search
Allow: /

Sitemap: http://101helper.blogspot.com/sitemap.xml

robots.txt for blogger

Replace http://101helper.blogspot.com with your blog url.

Above robots text tells robots to index all pages except not found pages. So static pages(contact, about, sitemap etc), posts and category pages will be indexed.

Step 3: Save changes and you are done, now follow next steps to start adding separate description to your blog pages.

Step 4: Turn on search description for each post by following this tutorial: How To Enable Search Description In Every Post In Blogger

That's it we are almost finished now you have enabled separate description for each blog post. Now its time to add description to category pages as we have told robots to index all pages so category pages will also be indexed.

Step 5: Copy below piece of code and paste it in <head> section of your template:

<b:if cond='data:blog.url == &quot;Your category url&quot;'>
<meta content='Your description or long tail keywords' name='description'/></b:if>

Step 6: Replace Your category url with the link of category for which you are adding description and Your description or long tail keywords with appropriate description or long tail keywords.

Step 7: Save template and you are done.

Explanation(Must Read):

Here I am going to explain what we actually did in above steps so it will make clear and easier for you to understand and add description for other categories.

The first thing we did in first three steps was telling robots to index all pages. E.g contact, about, sitemap, categories and posts pages.

In the fourth step we enabled a separate description for each post and static pages(contact, about, sitemap etc).

In step 5 we added a separate description for category. where we used some code which will show that description only on the category which link is replaced with Your category url.

So now you have to add the code mentioned in step 5 for each category and make changes for it.

That's it you are 95% done one last thing which you have to do is to replace your homepage meta description tag with the below meta tag:

<b:if cond='data:blog.url == data:blog.homepageUrl'><meta content='Your Blog Description' name='description'/></b:if>

This code will limit your homepage description to only homepage because of the highlighted code.

Now you are 100% done and ready for search engines. I hope you like this tutorial.

How To Choose Right Keywords To Boost Your Traffic - Blogger Seo

How To Choose Right Keywords To Boost Your Traffic - Blogger Seo

What are keywords and how do they help you to get visitors to your site? if this question is in your mind then you have reached to right place. Here you will learn everything about keywords and there importance. Keywords are the words used by visitors to search something in search engines and if you have that keyword in your blog then search engines will show your site and hence you will get maximum visitors to your blog. Keywords is an important part of on-page seo. Mainly keywords are of two types:

(1). Short Keywords:

Short keywords are those which contains only one or two words. For example for my blog Blogger Widgets, Blogger Seo, Blogger Menus are the short keywords. These keywords should be most relevant to your content otherwise they are useless. Also these keywords should be used in the main template in the <head> section. It has become so common that it is almost in every blog in the meta tag form. Like this:

<meta content="Most Relevant Keywords" name="keywords"/>

Short keywords should be searched very accurately because they play a vital role in seo so best tools should be used to find them or else you will loss all of your traffic. You can use Google Keywords Planner to search most relevant keywords for your blog. It is the best tool to find keywords.

You can also find best short keywords for your blog using Google search if you know the category of your blog for example if you have a blog about fashion then you can use to search the "latest fashion" to get more related words and you can use them as your short keywords. Now when someone will search fashion or any other related word your blog will appear in search results. You can see an example in below image:

keywords-for-blogger-seo

You can see related keywords in the above image. Now all you have to do is to add these keywords in your blog.

Moreover if you get other keywords from search engines using which people reach your blog collect them and use them as your keywords too. To find keywords used by visitors go to Stats > Traffic Sources and choose month or week or all time to see keywords used by visitors to reach your blog.

how-to-find-best-keywords-for-seo

(2). Long tail keywords:

These are the keywords which are most important for seo. A long tail keyword is actually a sentence used to search something and it is used more than short keywords. Short keywords are used to search the most popular sites like Facebook, Google, blogger, reddit etc so they are not important than long tail keywords for bloggers and other articles publishing sites like Moz or Wikihow. So a blogger should focus on long tail keywords more than short keywords.

If you are a seo researcher then you must know what are long tail keywords and how do they help visitors to reach to what they are looking for.

Long tail keyword is of 3-4 words or sometimes a full sentence. For example if you want to search for optimizing your blog for seo, then what would you Google? I guess "how to optimize blogger blog for seo Or How to get your site to the top of search results Or how to boost blog traffic" etc. These are the long tail keywords and similar to you everyone would search something similar to it or search for what Google show in the list. So you can use these long tail keywords to boost your traffic.

Where should be long tail keywords used? as short keywords have taken the space in the template
in the meta tag. Don't worry you can use long tail keywords in the search description of your post. Separate them by comma. And don't type the description just add long tail keywords as your description.

You can see a live demo to make sure if long tail keywords really work or no by googling "featured posts widget blogger" you will see 101Helper in the search results.

keywords-for-seo-boost-traffic

You can collect long tail keywords from Google Keyword Planner but I recommend you to collect them manually or use online long tail keywords generator to search keywords for every post you write. It will boost your traffic in a very short time.

How To Use Google Adwords To Increase Blogger Blog Traffic

    how-to-use-google-adwords-in-blogger-101helper

As far as I am concerned with blogging, Google Adwords is the only ad network which I prefer best to advertise a blogger blog. Although I get my whole traffic from search engines but in the beginning I used Google Adwords to promote my blog. You can also use Google Adwords to promote your blog and help it to start running.

    Why Google Adwords?

Only few of us know how to use Google adwords and its good for blogger because of its policy which is to pay only when you get clicks. It means you don't have to pay a fixed amount to advertise your blog but you choose your own budget and also pay per click amount. Moreover if you don't get clicks and your site is against Google Adword's policy you will get your money back. It has tremendous features which makes it better than other advertising networks.

    Payment Methods:

    - Credit Or Debit card.

    - Bank Account.

    Mobile App:

Stay up to date about your ad campaign clicks and impressions via smart phone app(Andoid/iphone). Just go to your phone's app store and download Google adwords app. Login by using your blogger account and stay updated about your campaign as well as keep full control over your account from your phone.

How To Use Google Adwords For Blogger Blog?

Well it seems that using Google Adwords is very difficult to understand but it isn't so. Even a beginner can start promoting his blog with it, all you need is a way to pay and follow this tutorial. So lets begin, follow below steps to start promoting your blog through Google Adwords.

Step 1: Go to blogger dashboard and navigate to Campaigns.

    how-to-use-google-adwords-in-blogger-101helper

Step 2: Click on Start Now.

    Advertise-blogger-blog-101helper

Step 3: Wait for the page to load and refresh it if its not showing anything.

Step 4: Type your Email, Select your country, Select your time zone and your currency(in which you will pay for advertising).

    advertise-blogger-blog

After selecting desired options click on save and continue to proceed away. Congratulations! your adwords account has been created.

How To Create My First Ad Campaign In Google Adwords?

Read and follow below steps to create your first campaign and start promoting your blog/website.

Step 1: Click on Create Your First Campaign.

Step 2: Give a title to your campaign, Select the type of ads either Standard or All features, Choose networks and devices(on which ads will show up e.g computer, tablets, mobile etc).

Step 3: Scroll down the page and move to Locations, here you have to choose the countries in which you would like to show your ads. Choose All the countries or your own country or if you want to target specific country then choose Let me select. If you choose Let me select then type the name of the country in the search box below and select it.

After location you have another option below "Languages" so check the languages in which you would like to show your ads. Be sure that the languages you select aren't only languages but these languages will decide that on which Google domain your ads will appear.

Say that you choose English, now your ads will be shown on the Google domains which have English language e.g Google.co.uk, Google.com, Google.pk.

It doesn't mean that your ads will not be shown in the countries you choose.

    how-to-use-google-adwords-blogger-tutorial

Step 4: In step 4 there are three things that you have to deal with, one is to choose a bid strategy, budget for your ads and other is to ad extension to your ads.

Choose Basic options in bid strategy because Advanced options are difficult to understand.

    - In bid strategy area you have two options:

    1. Adwords will set my bids to help maximize clicks within my target budget.
    2. I'll manually set my bids for clicks.
Choose I'll manually set my bids for clicks because if you let Google to choose bids for you then you will get more and more traffic but have to pay high rates.

    how-to-set-bid-in-google-adwords-101helper
How to set bids in Google Adwords?

After choosing I'll manually set my bids for clicks you will have two options:

    1. Default bid.
    2. Budget.
In the default bid type the rate which you will pay for each click(PPC).

Tip: For a quick boost in traffic while spending lowest amount set $0.05 as default bid.

In budget area type $1 or $2 no matter what you type but it is just a limit in which you will pay Google Adwords. For example if you set a budget of $1 and default bid $0.05 then you will get 20 clicks for 1 dollar and after that your ad will stop running because your daily budget is consumed. If you don't get 20 clicks in a day then your remaining budget will be used next.

What Is Ad Extension And How To Use It?

    ad-extension-google-adwords-blogger-101helper

Ad extension is an optional feature to include relevant business info with your ads e.g location, sitelinks, call info.

So if you want to use this feature just check any of the given option and follow instructions to proceed away.

Step 5: Click on Save and continue and you have successfully created your first campaign now its time to create an ad group which will include you ads so follow next step.

Step 6: Give a name to your ad group and below it design your ad look. You can see a preview of your ad on the page.

    How-To-Optimize-Post-Links-in-Blogger-seo

For higher search results seo optimization is very important and for that you have to keep all things in mind like description, title and links. As description and title optimization is discussed before so in this post we will talk about link optimization only. So in this post I will tell you how to optimize your blogger blog post links for higher results and also how does it help in search results.

    How It Works?

It works in a very simple way for example if you search "101helper" on Google you will find following results:

    Optimize-Post-Links-in-Blogger-seo

In above search results "101helper" is shown in bold style(highlighted) which we searched on Google. You can see that "101helper" is highlighted two times one in description and other in link so in this way link optimization is good for seo.

How To Optimize Post Links In Blogger:

Follow below steps to optimize your blog post's links for seo. You have to follow it whenever you are going to publish a post:

Step 1: Go to blogger dashboard > Posts > New post.

Step 2: write title of your post and click on save:

Step 4: Switch to Custom Permalink from Automatic Permalink.

    How-To-Optimize-Post-Links-in-Blogger-seo-blogspot

Step 5: Type keywords of your post which are searched on Google more frequently and click on Done.

Note: Use a hyphen(-) after each keyword you write. For example if your link is http://myblog.blogspot.com/2015/05/this-is-my-link and you want to optimize it by adding some keywords to it then you have to type a hyphen after each word e.g http://myblog.blogspot.com/2015/05/this-is-my-link-fully-optimized

If you use dots(.) or blank space blogger won't accept it.

    http://myblog.blogspot.com/2015/05/this-is-my-link-fully-optimized

http://myblog.blogspot.com/2015/05/this is my link and its not optimized
    http://myblog.blogspot.com/2015/05/this.is.my.link.and.its.not.optimized

Step 6: Publish your post and you are done.

Don't try to use underscores(_) in your links its not good for seo.
